WILD AT PAC CHEN
An adventure, far away from the big crowds.
Hidden temples, overgrown by jungle
Early in the morning Wilbert, our local Maya guide, takes us with him to see hidden temples, overgrown by jungle. An old Maya city where no tourist ever was before - and therefore even more interesting.
During our hike through the woods, we learn about Maya history and the nature surrounding us. Once we arrive at Wilbert’s family and their little church, culture and daily life will also be interesting topics.
We continue our way in the direction of Tres Reyes, where another family will serve us a delicious brunch. Filled with the energy from this local food we will go on to the next part of our day.
Pac Chen
Pa Chen is what used to be a village of chewing gum harvesters. Ever since the invention of artificial gum there was no source of income anymore for this region, and people went looking for new ways of making a living. For years they were trained and guided by an organization in adventure activities, such as ziplining through the woods, rappelling in an underground freshwater cave (cenote) and kayaking on the lake.
Nowadays, this village specializes in these activities, and we’ll be taken deep into the jungle to do them all.
Real fun to do with your family or friends, and on top of that you will support local projects and people. Eco-tourism at its best!
Ready for adventure??
For this trip, make sure to wear comfortable yet sturdy shoes/sandals, swimming gear, and biodegradable bug repellent. It’s always wise to bring bottled water, some snacks, and cash money.
Are you in for this adventure, but do you prefer combining it with more well-known archeological sites such as Coba or Tulum? That’s of course an option.
Or aren’t you much into history and would like even more adventure? Please also let me know.
I organize experiences, not tours – off the beaten track is where I prefer to be, and I love taking you there.
