HOLBOX
A DAY IN PARADISE
Nature, urban art & relax
Holbox, an island most of which is nature reserve. You don't get there easily, and yet it has become very well known in recent years. And I too am taking you there!

From your hotel we drive to Chiquilá, a small fishing village north-west of Cancun. The trip there goes through small villages and green jungle, it doesn't get much more local than this.
We sail a little further, to Punta Mosquito. This is the most northern point of Holbox where you are completely surrounded by sand and water. No matter how far you look, nothing but sea on one side and the island on the other.

In Chiquilá a lancha, a fishing boat, is waiting for us. This one takes us first to Isla de la Pasión. Unfortunately the last hurricane destroyed the observation tower, but what remains is beautiful large sandpit with some vegetation where birds come to look for food.

Holbox by your self
Then the boat docks in the port of Holbox and f rom here we continue by the most common local means of transportation: the golf car. Have a nice tour of the village, see the murals that are everywhere and enjoy the relaxed atmosfeer. I'll show you where in the village you can eat well. If you prefer to eat at the beach, I also have tips for that.

After dinner there is more time to enjoy Holbox itself. Another round through the village, or to the sea, which is shallow and slopes very slowly, so even for (smaller) children it is great for paddling.

About late afternoon, we drive back to the port and get back into our lancha. But, we don't go straight back to Chiquilá, we make a stop in Yalahau.
This place is hidden away in the mangrove forests of the mainland, and here we find an “ojo de agua”: the estuary of a cenote, an underground cave system with f resh water.

The perfect place to end our day, because here you can wash off all the sand and salt.
From here it's really over for the day. We sail back to the car, and then it's straight back to your hotel.
