The best combination

During this tour we will combine a visit to Tulum (a must-see archaeological site) with the beauty of the Sian Ka'an biosphere. Sian Ka’an is Maya and means: ‘origin of the sky’, or ‘place where the heaven is born’. Go with me on this day and you’ll understand why the Maya chose this name!

After getting to know the Tulum ruins we will get back on the road for a short drive. We will find ourselves immersed in the thick tropical jungle of the ancient site of Muyil, nestled on the edge of the freshwater lagoons of Chunyaxche. This place was used as a port by the ancient Maya.

We will explore the temples, walk through the exuberant vegetation and wetlands, climb on a watchtower and enjoy the view of Sian Ka'an.

After the hike, our adventure continues with a boat ride across the lagoons of Chunyaxche and to an ancient control post in the middle of nowhere. You are now in the heart of Sian Ka’an, and everywhere you look you will see turquoise lagoons, mangroves, savannah: an infinite view of nature. It's time to freshen up a bit by jumping in this crystal-clear water. Before you know it, you will float along the slow current enjoying the peace and quiet of this UNESCO protected biosphere.

Before you know it, you will float along the slow current enjoying the peace and quiet of this UNESCO protected biosphere.

During the day we will have brunch or lunch at my favorite Mexican taco restaurant.

If you really love nature there is an option to continue the boot tour after the floating experience to spot crocodiles, manatees, ospreys and other species of birds.
